NEWS

NEW MAP
We have another busy period ahead of us including a new project discovering the fascinating history of the Jews in Bangor – a story that could go back as far as the Middle Ages. Some of you have already been on one walk with us and there will be more of them and an exhibition as part of this new project. We are really looking forward to working with Dr. Nathan Abrams of Bangor University on this project.

A NEW SERVICE
SCANNING AND DIGITISING OLD PHOTOGRAPHIC ‘GLASS-SLIDES’, NEGATIVES AND SLIDES
We have already started scanning old photographic glass slides and negatives in our Shop and Centre in Llanberis. We will be formally advertising this service soon (as part of a wider marketing strategy for the Project and Shop). A couple of very interesting collections have already come in including what could turn out to be images that are nearly a century old. So keep a look out for any such collections that you may have hidden away in boxes in the attic somewhere and we will be able to scan them to digital. Contact us for more details.

HELP WITH YOUR I.T. PROBLEMS WITH MEDWYN
Medwyn Williams from Digital Gwynedd will be in our Shop and Centre in Llanberis to help you with any technical difficulties you may have with your laptops, i-pads, mobile phones etc from 10.00am-Noon on the following dates:
TUESDAY 3 JULY
TUESDAY 10 JULY
TUESDAY 17 JULY
Call by to see Medwyn.

GRANTS
We are now working on 4 grant applications for new projects in the future, all of which concern Heritage and Walking to Health. The application processes will be long and will require letters and e-mails of support (which no doubt I will be begging you all for in the near future). So watch this space!

WALK AND DISCOVER LIBRARY
The library will be a collection of local history books and books on local interest is shaping up nicely – thanks to a couple of volunteers who are busy sorting things out. I will let you know when the Library will be officially opened but some have already been in to borrow some books for research into their local and family history.

So there we are for now. In August we will be traipsing out to wander around Llanengan, Cwm Brwynog and much more.
See you soon and thank you all.
